San Francisco and Newark Airports
John Reilly provided partnering services for the new Airport Transit System (AirTrain) at San Francisco International Airport and assistance with internal teamwork and project alignment worksessions, using partnering principles, for the Newark Airport People Mover, Northeast Corridor Rail Extension and systems installation contractor.
San Francisco Airport People Mover (AirTrain Project).
This procurement was conflicted and contested, with difficult litigation resulting in potentially damaging working relationships between the client and the contractor – which could preclude a successful project.
John facilitated an initial high-level workout session with airport and contractor senior management and then managed the first partnering session. The high-level and partnering workout sessions initiated changes to re-align and re-establish good customer-contractor expectations and working relationships and began the transition to a more positive and productive working environment.
This was done successfully in 1-1/2 days and the project was put on track with better working relationships at senior management and working levels. 1998 – 2000.
Newark Airport People Mover – Northeast Corridor Rail Extension.
Partnering principles were used to introduce better internal teamwork for the contractor (Adtranz) and subcontractors. Subsequent workshops introduced partnering to the systems installation sub-contractors. John also facilitated, on very short notice, a critical and intense workout session between the client, engineer, contractor, sub-suppliers and consultants for a complex aerial girder heating system retrofit program. The client noted that the workshop had significantly exceeded expectations. 1998 – 2000.
